US equity funds see biggest outflows in eight weeks
Investors pulled $21.92 billion from U.S. equity funds in the week to March 4. Safe-haven demand lifted money market inflows to a high of $22.51 billion.
Investors in the United States withdrew capital from equity funds at the fastest rate in eight weeks during the period ending March 4. This surge in net sales comes as geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran prompted a move toward safer assets, amid fears that the conflict could stoke inflation and alter the outlook for interest rates.
Data from LSEG Lipper indicates that investors divested a net $21.92 billion from equity funds, the largest weekly outflow since January 7. Growth funds were hit hardest, suffering $11.15 billion in withdrawals, while value funds bucked the trend with a modest $146 million in net purchases.
