European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called for a significant simplification of European Union regulations governing companies, aiming to reduce financial-market fragmentation and enhance the bloc's global competitiveness. Speaking on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, von der Leyen proposed that EU leaders endorse a joint single market roadmap to 2028 during an upcoming summit in March.
