Unilever and McCormick merge food units in 65 billion deal
Unilever will merge its food unit with McCormick in a deal creating a 65 billion dollar company. The move helps the group focus on beauty and personal care.
Unilever PLC has announced a definitive agreement to merge its global food business with McCormick & Company, Incorporated, a transaction that marks the second-largest deal in the history of the food industry. This strategic move, which values the combined entity at approximately $65 billion, is part of an ongoing effort by CEO Fernando Fernandez to reshape the company’s portfolio by prioritizing high-growth sectors such as beauty and personal care. Following the announcement, Unilever shares retreated to their lowest levels since April 2024 as investors weighed the potential for management distraction during the complex separation process.
