Ukraine Recaptures 600 Square Kilometers in 2026
Military chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reports that Ukrainian forces have reclaimed over 600 square km this year, noting that gains in May exceeded losses by 100 square km. While fighting remains intense near Pokrovsk, independent maps indicate Russian advances are slowing or reversing.
Ukraine military chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Monday that forces have recaptured more than 600 square km of territory so far in 2026. This follows years of slow but relentless gains by Russia after a major Ukrainian counter-offensive failed in 2023. The reported territorial shift comes as daily battlefield clashes increase across a difficult and dynamic 1,200 km frontline.
