House prices in the United Kingdom climbed at their fastest annual rate since October in February, according to mortgage lender Halifax. While the figures suggest a recovery in market momentum, the outlook is increasingly tempered by fears that persistent inflation and geopolitical tensions may delay anticipated interest rate cuts.
Halifax reported that house prices rose 1.3% in the 12 months to February, outperforming the 0.9% growth forecast by economists. On a monthly basis, prices grew by 0.3%, matching expectations but marking a slowdown from the 0.8% increase seen in January.
