UK house prices rise 0.9 percent in March beating forecasts
British house prices rose 0.9 percent in March, bringing the annual growth rate to 2.2 percent. The figures outperformed economist forecasts of a slight drop.
The housing market in the United Kingdom experienced a surprising upturn in March, with property values rising significantly more than analysts had predicted. Data from the mortgage lender Nationwide Building Society revealed a 0.9% increase in house prices for the month, defying expectations of a slowdown.

This monthly growth brings the annual increase to 2.2%, a figure that stands in contrast to the 0.8% growth forecast by economists. Prior to the release, a Reuters poll of experts had suggested a potential 0.1% decline in prices on a monthly basis. The stronger-than-anticipated figures indicate a resilient demand within the residential sector as the spring season begins.
