UK Fines Apple Subsidiary Over Russia Sanctions Breach
Britain fined Apple Distribution International 390,000 pounds for a Russia sanctions breach. The firm made funds available to a restricted person in 2022.
The United Kingdom has issued a financial penalty of 390,000 pounds ($516,000) to a subsidiary of Apple Inc. for a breach of international sanctions. The enforcement action targets Apple Distribution International Limited (ADI), an Ireland-based unit of the United States technology corporation. According to a government notice published on Monday, the breach involved sanctions related to Russia. Investigators found that ADI made funds available to a designated person without obtaining the necessary license during two specific payments conducted in 2022. The penalty reflects the British government's ongoing efforts to enforce compliance with financial restrictions following geopolitical developments in the region. At the time of the announcement, the exchange rate was approximately 0.7556 pounds to the dollar.
