Uganda Taps Citibank for 2.7 Billion Euro Railway Project

Uganda has appointed Citibank to mobilize 2.7 billion euros for a new railway project. The government is also discussing potential support with the World Bank.

The government of Uganda has appointed CITIGROUP INC to coordinate the mobilization of funds for its 2.7 billion euro ($3.19 billion) Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project. The finance ministry announced the move on Thursday, noting that the country is also in active discussions with the World Bank to secure additional support for the infrastructure initiative.
