China Vice Premier He Lifeng and United States trade chiefs held a video call Thursday afternoon to discuss trade restrictions and cooperation. The discussion follows a March meeting in Paris and precedes a planned summit between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump of TRUMP MEDIA & TECHNOLOGY GRO in mid-May. Investors are monitoring whether the world's two largest economies can stabilize trade flows after the October truce in Busan.
CCTV reported that He Lifeng, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer held constructive exchanges. The Chinese side expressed concern regarding recent U.S. trade restrictions. Both sides agreed to enhance consensus and manage differences during the call.
