Police in Kenya killed two people during a protest against a planned United States Ebola quarantine facility on Monday. The deaths occurred as hundreds of demonstrators in Nanyuki opposed a 50-bed unit designed for Americans exposed to the virus. President William Ruto approved the facility after Trump personally requested Kenya's support.
### Fatal Clashes Over Quarantine Site Protest organiser Patrick Wahome said two demonstrators died from gunshot wounds after police opened fire on Monday. While a security source confirmed the deaths to Reuters, police spokesperson Michael Muchiri said he was not aware of the fatalities. The facility at Laikipia Air Base is intended to house asymptomatic Americans arriving from the Democratic Republic of the Congo or Uganda.
