Drone strikes Turkish-operated oil tanker in Black Sea

A drone struck a Turkish-operated tanker carrying Russian crude near the Bosphorus on Thursday. Turkey condemned the attack and reported the crew is safe.

Turkey has formally condemned a marine drone strike on a crude oil tanker that had recently departed Russia, causing an explosion in the Black Sea near the Bosphorus strait on Thursday. The incident involved the Sierra Leone-flagged vessel ALTURA, which was reportedly carrying approximately 1 million barrels of crude oil from the port of Novorossiysk. Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu stated that the vessel was positioned about 18 nautical miles from the Bosphorus, a vital shipping artery, when the strike occurred.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oncu Keceli expressed grave concern over the incident, noting that the vessel was Turkish-operated and the 27 crew members remained in good health. Keceli stated:
