Trading houses Vitol and Trafigura have been granted the first US
USlicenses to handle Venezuelan
VEoil supplies as part of a significant 50-million-barrel deal between Caracas and Washington. This development signifies a notable shift in trade relations since the USimposed an oil blockade on Venezuela in December. The newly issued licenses permit the resumption of exports for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to regional markets after a prolonged hiatus.
The supply agreement has already facilitated substantial trade activity, with the two trading houses having exported approximately 10 million barrels of crude from Venezuela to date. While global benchmarks such as WTI Crude Oil (NYMEX) continue to monitor shifting supply dynamics, the focus on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)highlights a stabilizing domestic energy situation within the South American nation. Last year, Venezuelasuccessfully met its internal demand for the fuel, creating a surplus for the first time in several years.
