The refund system established to allow businesses to recover illegally collected tariffs from the United States government launched on Monday, prompting a surge of claims from thousands of companies. While the portal remained operational under heavy traffic, early users reported minor technical difficulties.
Jay Foreman, CEO of the toymaker Basic Fun, monitored the launch from his company’s headquarters in Florida. He noted that the system did not suffer a total collapse despite the high volume of submissions.
