Creditors of Britain
GB's Thames Water have launched a process to review the allocation of approximately 823 million pounds in additional funding from agreed options. This review, initiated today on February 12, 2026, is a pivotal development for the debt-laden utility as it determines the company's access to essential near-term liquidity. The allocation decision involves roughly 823 million pounds, which is approximately 1.12 billion dollars, and is central to the firm's immediate financial planning.
The current liquidity situation for the utility follows a period of significant borrowing. Thames Water has already drawn 1.43 billion pounds from an initial 1.5 billion-pound super senior liquidity facility. Despite the high utilization of this initial facility, the company maintains the option to draw a further 1.5 billion pounds. This remaining credit is set to be made available in two separate tranches, providing a potential buffer as the creditor review proceeds.
