The global technology sector is witnessing an unprecedented surge in capital expenditure as firms race to build the infrastructure necessary for the artificial intelligence era. Leading this trend, AMAZON.COM INC has committed to investing up to $25 billion in Anthropic, while the startup plans to spend more than $100 billion over the next decade on cloud services. This deal is part of a broader wave of multi-billion-dollar agreements involving the world's most prominent tech entities.

OpenAI has become a primary focal point for these investments. Beyond the Anthropic partnership, Amazon is reportedly exploring a $10 billion investment in the ChatGPT creator. Concurrently, WALT DISNEY CO/THE has pledged $1 billion to OpenAI as part of a licensing agreement that will bring characters from Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel to the Sora AI video generator. In the semiconductor space, BROADCOM INC is working with OpenAI on in-house processors, and NVIDIA CORP is set to invest up to $100 billion in the startup while providing essential data center hardware. AMD has also secured a deal to supply AI chips, offering OpenAI a potential 10% equity stake in the company.
