Taiwan maintains current electricity rates for stability
Taiwan will keep electricity rates unchanged to support price stability and industrial competitiveness. The decision aims to maintain inflation below 2 percent.
The government of Taiwan has announced it will maintain current electricity rates to support price stability and industrial competitiveness despite rising global energy costs. The Ministry of Economic Affairs confirmed on Friday that the electricity price review committee opted against a rate hike, citing the need to shield the economy from volatility caused by conflict in the Middle East.
This decision is part of a broader effort to manage inflation, which has stayed below the 2% warning threshold for ten consecutive months. For Taiwan, stable energy pricing is essential for the advanced semiconductor sector, which is currently driving the global surge in artificial intelligence development.
