Taiwan Economy Minister Visits US Investment Summit
Minister Kung Ming-hsin leads a large delegation to the SelectUSA summit. The visit follows a deal for Taiwanese firms to invest 250 billion dollars in the US.
Taiwan Economy Minister Kung Ming-hsin will lead a delegation to the United States on Thursday to advance a $250B investment pact. The January 2025 agreement cuts tariffs for Taiwanese firms in exchange for $250B in semiconductor, energy, and AI production. The visit solidifies a supply chain shift as Taiwanese firms expand their manufacturing footprint within the U.S. market.
Kung will first visit Arizona, where Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC, 2330.TW) is spending $165B on new factory construction. The minister said the delegation to the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Maryland will be one of the largest in attendance.
