The central bank of Taiwan has significantly upgraded its economic growth projections for the year, driven by a surge in technology exports, while simultaneously adjusting its inflation outlook upward due to geopolitical tensions.

During a meeting on Thursday, the central bank decided unanimously to maintain the benchmark discount rate at 2%. This move aligned with market expectations, as a survey of 29 economists had unanimously predicted no change to the current monetary policy. The growth forecast for the island nation was revised to 7.28%, a sharp increase from the 3.67% estimate issued in December.
