Systematic hedge funds have increased their stock exposure at a record pace, adding $86 billion over the last five trading sessions, according to a recent report from GOLDMAN SACHS GROUP INC. These funds, which utilize algorithms to follow market trends rather than fundamental economic data, have driven one of the largest periods of trading demand from Commodity Trading Advisors (CTAs) in history.

Global stock markets held steady near record highs on Friday, positioned for a third straight week of growth. This bullish sentiment is largely supported by investor hopes for a resolution to regional conflicts in the Middle East. Since the market turnaround in early April, systematic traders have been aggressive buyers, betting on a continued rise in asset values.

The current rate of equity purchases by speculators is ranked within the top five fastest buying speeds ever recorded. Data indicates that global CTAs previously exhibited this level of fervor in August 2024, November 2023, and September 2019.

Looking ahead, analysts in the United Kingdom and other financial hubs are monitoring whether this momentum will hold. Calculations suggest that these speculators could potentially acquire an additional $70 billion in stocks over the next five trading sessions, further fueling the global market rally.
