Swisscom beats Q1 profit estimates as churn stabilizes

SWISSCOM AG-REG reported first-quarter core profit rose 0.8% to 1.288 billion Swiss francs ($1.65 billion), exceeding analyst estimates of 1.257 billion francs. Revenue fell 4.1% to 3.61 billion francs, though sales grew 1.3% when adjusted for currency effects. Stabilizing subscriber churn following price hikes suggests the carrier is maintaining its market lead despite rising competition.
CEO Christoph Aeschlimann said customer churn linked to price increases began to stabilize in the first quarter. Churn levels have reverted to historical norms, though the executive noted the need for additional observation before confirming a sustained trend.
