Swiss Re expects 148 billion dollars in 2026 insured losses

Swiss Re estimates insured losses from natural catastrophes will hit 148 billion dollars this year. This follows a lower total of 107 billion dollars in 2025.

The firm, which is based in Switzerland, cautioned that under a more severe scenario, these losses could escalate significantly, potentially reaching as high as $320 billion.
