The government of Sudan has implemented a sweeping ban on the importation of various food items, consumer goods, and industrial inputs. This drastic measure, detailed in an official document, aims to stabilize the national currency following a significant devaluation. Since late February, the Sudanese pound has depreciated by approximately 10%, reaching a rate of 4,100 per dollar, exacerbated by regional tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
