Standard Bank Annual Earnings Rise 11% to 49.2 Billion Rand
Africa's largest lender by assets reported a profit increase driven by strong fee and trading income. The bank declared a final dividend of 878 cents per share.
South Africa-based STANDARD BANK GROUP LTD, the largest lender on the African continent by assets, reported an 11% rise in annual headline earnings for the fiscal year ending December 31. The bank announced on Thursday that headline earnings reached 49.2 billion rand ($2.97 billion), up from 44.5 billion rand in the previous year.
The financial performance was bolstered by robust growth in fee and trading income, alongside a significant reduction in credit impairment charges. These factors allowed the institution to navigate a challenging economic landscape while maintaining its growth trajectory.
