SQM Reports 53 Percent Jump in Fourth Quarter Profit
SQM reported a 53 percent rise in fourth-quarter profit to 183.8 million dollars. Record sales and strong demand for energy storage drove the positive results.
The lithium producer Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A., which operates primarily in Chile, has reported a 53% jump in fourth-quarter net profit, supported by a stronger pricing environment and increased sales volumes. The company announced that its net income reached $183.8 million for the period, up from the previous year. Revenue for the quarter rose 23.3% to $1.32 billion, while gross profit surged 52.7% to $448.5 million. For the full year, the firm posted a net income of $588.1 million, marking a significant turnaround from a $404.4 million loss in 2024. Chief Executive Officer Ricardo Ramos highlighted the performance of the company's core divisions during the earnings release. > "Our fourth quarter 2025 results reflected record-high sales volumes across both of our lithium businesses, Nova Andino Litio and our International Lithium Division." Ramos further noted that the market began showing signs of a better supply-demand balance toward the end of 2025, largely due to robust demand from energy storage systems. To capitalize on these trends, the producer is increasing its refining of lithium carbonate in China through tolling agreements. As one of the primary lithium extractors globally, the company operates alongside competitors like the United States-based Albemarle Corporation. Although lithium prices have moderated since their 2022 peaks as global supply caught up with demand, the long-term outlook remains tied to the expansion of the electric vehicle sector and large-scale battery storage projects.
