The government of Spain has proposed a comprehensive support package totaling 5 billion euros ($5.8 billion) to address the economic fallout from the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The initiative, which requires parliamentary approval, introduces a series of fiscal measures aimed at lowering energy costs for households and critical industries most affected by the recent volatility in global markets.

Under the new proposal, the value-added tax on electricity bills would be reduced to 10%, while fuel prices could see cuts of up to 30 cents per litre. A specific fuel subsidy of 20 cents per litre is also planned for the transport and agricultural sectors, which have been hit hardest by the energy price spikes. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who has expressed strong criticism regarding the involvement of the United States and Israel in the regional hostilities, noted that the measures would remain active as long as the crisis persists.
