Spain Ends Antitrust Probe into BP Moeve and Repsol
Spain's antitrust watchdog closed its investigation into BP, Moeve, and Repsol on Tuesday. The probe found no evidence of collusion or abuse in fuel pricing.
The antitrust regulator in Spain has officially closed its investigation into several prominent energy corporations, determining that no competition laws were breached. The National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC) stated on Tuesday that it has ended its probe into BP PLC, CEPSA—currently rebranded as Moeve—and Repsol after finding no evidence of illegal activity.

The investigation was initiated following accusations from two industry groups. These associations claimed that the firms had exploited their market dominance and engaged in collusive behavior to raise fuel prices and expand their market presence. These allegations were centered on the period of market volatility following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
Ultimately, the CNMC concluded that the companies' actions did not constitute a violation of antitrust regulations, leading to the formal dismissal of the case.
