SpaceX Files Confidentially for U.S. Initial Public Offering
SpaceX filed for a confidential U.S. initial public offering today. The move follows the company's recent acquisition of xAI and its lunar city project.
Elon Musk’s SpaceX has taken a definitive step toward the public markets, confidentially filing for a highly anticipated initial public offering in the United States. This move marks a historic milestone for the aerospace giant, potentially setting the stage for one of the largest stock market flotations in history.
The journey began in March 2002, when Musk founded the company using proceeds from the sale of PAYPAL HOLDINGS INC. After an initial failure in 2006, the company achieved its first successful orbit with the Falcon 1 rocket in September 2008, becoming the first privately developed liquid-fuel rocket to reach Earth's orbit. This success was followed by a major NASA contract to supply the International Space Station (ISS).
