South Korea will launch 24-hour dollar-won spot trading on July 6, the finance ministry announced on May 21. This marks the first time the market will operate around the clock, in the latest step to open up the country's foreign exchange market.
Trial trading for the extended hours will begin on June 29, according to the finance ministry statement. The shift removes previous time restrictions that limited spot market activity to local business hours.
