President Lee Jae Myung of South Korea announced on Monday that the nation must accept a level of risk regarding Middle Eastern crude oil imports as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz continues to disrupt global energy supplies. During a cabinet meeting, the President emphasized that the lack of viable alternative routes necessitates a balanced approach to ensure national energy security.
"There are not many alternative routes, and if shipments are cut off altogether because of heightened risk, it could have a serious impact on South Koreas crude supply and pose a major risk to the public, so we need to strike a balance and accept a certain degree of risk," Lee said.
