South Korea and Japan discussed a military-logistics support agreement on Sunday to share fuel, food, and ammunition. The potential pact would link the two United States allies in a cross-servicing arrangement. Formalizing defense cooperation could stabilize regional security but faces high domestic political hurdles in Seoul.

Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back met Japanese counterpart Shinjiro Koizumi on Sunday morning at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. Ahn said Seoul remains cautious about the politically sensitive pact.
