SK Hynix to buy ASML EUV scanners for 8 billion dollars
SK Hynix will buy EUV scanners from ASML Korea for 8 billion dollars. The move aims to support mass production of new semiconductor products starting today.
SK hynix Inc. has announced a major investment in its semiconductor manufacturing capabilities through the acquisition of advanced lithography equipment. According to a regulatory filing on Tuesday, the company will purchase extreme ultraviolet (EUV) scanners to facilitate the mass production of its next-generation memory products. The transaction is valued at approximately 11.95 trillion won, which equates to roughly $7.97 billion based on current exchange rates.
The high-tech machinery is being sourced from the regional operations of ASML Holding N.V., the world's primary supplier of EUV systems. This strategic procurement underscores the commitment of industry leaders in South Korea to maintaining a technical edge in the global chip market as competition for high-performance hardware intensifies.
