Sherrod Brown wins Ohio primary in Senate comeback bid
Sherrod Brown won the Ohio Democratic primary to challenge Republican Jon Husted. The race is key to the Democratic bid to reclaim control of the U.S. Senate.
Sherrod Brown won the Ohio Democratic primary on Tuesday evening with 92.5% of early votes counted, according to media reports. The victory sets a competitive November challenge against Republican incumbent Jon Husted for a seat in the United States Senate. This race is one of four targets for Democrats seeking to overturn the current 53-47 Republican Senate majority.
Brown defeated primary challenger Ron Kincaid to secure his bid for the seat he lost in 2024. Husted, who was appointed in January 2025, ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Analysts at the Cook Political Report said Brown’s economic populism aligns with voter concerns over affordability.
