Senate Democrats seek security probe of UAE investment in Trump crypto venture

Senators Warren and Kim want a security review of a UAE stake in the Trump crypto firm. They cited concerns over data privacy and foreign influence risks today.

Two senators from the United States USUS, Elizabeth Warren and Andy Kim, have called upon Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to determine whether a formal review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is required for a reported investment in World Liberty Financial. The request follows reports that an entity backed by the United Arab Emirates AEAE acquired a 49% stake in the cryptocurrency venture, which is closely tied to the family of Donald Trump. In their communication to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the senators expressed concerns that the transaction could pose significant national security risks, particularly regarding foreign access to sensitive personal data and critical technology.
