Saudi Arabia Pledges 3 Billion Dollars in New Support
Saudi Arabia has pledged 3 billion dollars in new support for Pakistan and extended a 5 billion dollar deposit. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced the deal today.
Saudi Arabia has pledged an additional $3 billion in financial support to Pakistan and extended an existing $5 billion deposit, according to an announcement by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The commitment marks a significant step in reinforcing the economic partnership between the two nations as Islamabad seeks to stabilize its fiscal position.

Speaking to media representatives in Washington, Muhammad Aurangzeb detailed the support package while attending the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. The extension of the $5 billion deposit is intended to bolster Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves, providing a critical liquidity buffer during its ongoing economic recovery efforts.

The financial assistance follows a series of high-level diplomatic engagements between the two allies. Recent discussions between Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan al Saud and Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, have focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional stability. Saudi Arabia has historically served as a key financial supporter for Pakistan, frequently providing aid to help the country manage external debt and balance-of-payments challenges.
