Samsung Electronics projects record quarterly profit of 20 trillion won as AI demand fuels surge in memory chip prices

The South Korean tech giant reported a three-fold profit increase driven by tight memory supply. Analysts expect market undersupply to persist throughout 2026.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced on Thursday that it expects a record fourth-quarter 2025 operating profit of 20 trillion won ($13.82 billion), marking a three-fold increase from the 6.49 trillion won reported in the same period last year. This projection significantly outperformed the LSEG SmartEstimate of 18 trillion won and surpassed the previous quarterly high of 17.6 trillion won set in the third quarter of 2018. Based in South Korea KRKR, the firm also anticipates total revenue to rise by 23 percent to a record 93 trillion won from a year earlier.
