Samsung expects more 2nm chip orders and Texas expansion
Samsung Electronics is in talks with tech firms for advanced 2nm logic chip contracts. The company is also reviewing plans for a second factory in Texas.
SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO LTD expects to secure additional 2-nanometer logic chip contracts following discussions with major technology customers. The South Korea based manufacturer previously secured a $16.5B order from TESLA INC for logic chip production. Expanding advanced foundry capacity is critical as Samsung competes for market share against INTEL CORP and TSMC.
Samsung is conducting a preliminary review to build a second fabrication plant in Taylor, United States. The facility would support potential orders currently under discussion with customers. Operations at the first Taylor site will begin during the current year.
