Russia values seized UGC gold stake at 1.85 billion dollars
Russia has valued a seized 67.2% stake in gold producer UGC at $1.85 billion for a May auction. This sale follows the state seizure of the asset in July 2025.
The Russian property agency has announced a valuation of 140.4 billion roubles, or approximately $1.85 billion, for a 67.2% stake in the gold producer UGC. This assessment precedes an auction scheduled for early May, marking a significant step in the redistribution of the company's ownership.
This development follows a ruling by a court in Russia in July 2025, which mandated the transfer of the majority stake from businessman Konstantin Strukov to the state. The seizure aligns with an ongoing pattern of asset nationalization involving both domestic enterprises and international firms departing the region. According to data from the Moscow law firm NSP, the state has seized private assets totaling nearly $50 billion since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.
