RIO TINTO LTD reported a 2.4% increase in its first-quarter iron ore sales on Tuesday, supported by robust production from its Pilbara operations. The world's largest iron ore producer sold 72.4 million metric tons (Mt) of iron ore in the three months ended March 31, compared with shipments of 70.7 Mt recorded during the same period a year earlier.
