Renault Ampere signs lithium battery agreement with Basquevolt

Renault's Ampere unit and Basquevolt are partnering on lithium metal batteries. The deal aims to produce cheaper and simpler cells for future electric cars.

Renault's Ampere electric vehicle unit has finalized an agreement with the Spanish firm Basquevolt to accelerate the development of lithium metal-based batteries intended for future electric vehicles. The partnership, completed on February 24, 2026, focuses on advancing technology that is increasingly critical as lithium batteries remain central to the architecture of electric vehicle powertrains.
