UK Food Makers See Profit Rise as Consumers Eat In
Premier Foods and Princes Group reported increased annual profits as British consumers shift toward cooking at home to manage inflation. Premier Foods saw trading profit rise 6.7 percent to 200.4 million pounds while Princes Group posted a 17 percent jump in quarterly core profit.
PREMIER FOODS PLC and PRINCES GROUP PLC reported profit growth of 6.7% and 17% respectively as consumers in the United Kingdom shifted toward home cooking. The trend toward affordable meal solutions helped Premier Foods beat market expectations. Resilient demand for packaged staples allows both firms to offset rising freight and packaging costs while funding higher dividends.
Consumers are prioritizing value by purchasing cooking sauces, pasta, and canned goods to avoid inflation. Premier Foods CEO Alex Whitehouse said he expects demand for affordable products to remain strong. The company raised its dividend 20% and saw its shares rise 4%.
