Porsche SE, the primary investor in Volkswagen AG, is pivoting toward defense and technology investments following a slump in earnings within the automotive sector. This strategic shift comes as geopolitical tensions in Ukraine and the Middle East drive increased interest in security-related assets.

The holding company, which represents the Porsche-Piech dynasty in Germany, reported adjusted earnings after tax of 2.9 billion euros ($3.35 billion) for 2025. This represents a 9% year-on-year decline, largely attributed to setbacks at its primary subsidiaries. Porsche SE currently holds a 31.9% stake and 53.3% of the voting rights in Volkswagen, alongside a 12.5% share in the sports-car manufacturer Porsche AG.
