Philippines Foreign Minister Theresa Lazaro will meet with Myanmar ethnic armed groups in the coming days to seek conflict resolutions. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Lazaro as his special envoy to Myanmar while the Philippines serves as the current chair of ASEAN. This diplomatic outreach follows a January stakeholders meeting where Manila assembled several rebel groups to address the ongoing civil war.
### Manila’s Direct Engagement Strategy Lazaro announced the plan during a forum in Japan on Wednesday. She aims to learn about the situation directly from rebel groups to determine how the regional bloc can provide assistance.
