Paramount Skydance expects easy EU nod for Warner Bros deal
Paramount Skydance expects easy EU antitrust approval for its Warner Bros Discovery bid. The firm is prepared to offer minor divestments if regulators require.
Paramount Skydance Corporation Class B Common Stock is expected to receive regulatory approval from the European Union for its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc., according to sources familiar with the proceedings. The deal is viewed as having a smoother path than previous industry attempts, with any necessary concessions likely remaining limited in scope.
Unlike the earlier unsuccessful bid by Netflix, Inc., the combination of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery would result in a market share of less than 20% across all European territories. This figure sits comfortably below the 30% threshold where the European Commission typically initiates more rigorous antitrust interventions. While the company has not yet filed for formal approval, it is currently engaged in pre-notification discussions with regulators.
