Panasonic Holdings will begin mass-producing battery cells for data centers at its Kansas plant by the 2028 fiscal year. The company is allocating 350 billion yen to its energy unit as part of a broader investment in AI infrastructure to meet rising global demand.
PANASONIC HOLDINGS CORP will launch mass production of battery cells for data centers at its Kansas plant in fiscal 2028. The move allocates 350 billion yen ($2.18 billion) to the Panasonic Energy unit as AI infrastructure demand surges globally. This shift diversifies the revenue stream of a major supplier to TESLA INC beyond the electric vehicle market.
### Shifting Capital Toward AI Infrastructure The investment is part of a broader 500 billion yen commitment to AI-related technology through fiscal 2028. Panasonic Energy will receive 70% of these funds, while the remaining 150 billion yen is earmarked for the Industry segment. This capital injection supports the expansion of the manufacturing footprint in the United States to meet localized demand for high-capacity storage, with mass production in Kansas set to begin in the fiscal year ending March 2029.
