PageGroup Annual Profit Falls 8.7 Percent on Weak Hiring
British recruiter PageGroup reported an 8.7 percent drop in annual gross profit to 769.5 million pounds. The decline was driven by slow hiring in Europe.
The recruitment firm PageGroup plc reported an 8.7% decline in its annual gross profit on Thursday, citing a prolonged period of weak hiring activity across its key European markets. The company, which is headquartered in the United Kingdom, saw its gross profit fall to 769.5 million pounds ($1.03 billion) for the year. This downturn reflects broader economic caution that has led many employers to delay recruitment decisions, impacting the professional staffing sector. The results highlight the sensitivity of the recruitment industry to regional economic shifts, particularly within the Eurozone where PageGroup maintains a significant presence. According to the company's financial statement, the reported figures were impacted by the prevailing exchange rate of 0.7504 pounds to the U.S. dollar.
