Labour Lawmakers Urge UK Ban on Israeli Settlement Trade
More than a third of Britain's governing Labour Party lawmakers signed a letter calling for an end to trade with Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The group cited an urgent need for accountability following increased settler violence and the expansion of illegal settlement activity.
More than 137 lawmakers from the governing Labour Party in the United Kingdom signed a letter on June 8 demanding an immediate ban on trade with Israeli settlements. The signatories represent 34% of the party's 402 members in the House of Commons. This move pressures Prime Minister Keir Starmer to reconcile internal party demands for accountability with the government's strategic alliance with Israel.
