New BoK Board Member Kim Jin-ill Warns of Inflation Risks
Newly appointed Bank of Korea board member Kim Jin-ill began his term on Friday by highlighting heightening inflation concerns driven by high oil prices. He noted that while the technology sector leads an economic recovery, household debt and capital flow risks require increased caution.
South Korea central bank board member Kim Jin-ill warned that inflation risks are rising due to high energy costs. Kim cited the Middle East conflict as a primary driver for elevated oil prices. Kim began a four-year term on the Bank of Korea's seven-seat policy board on Friday.
### Inflation and Sectoral Divergence Kim noted that while the technology sector is leading an improvement in economic conditions, global investment uncertainty remains high. Domestic inequality also persists as a challenge to the broader recovery.
