Novartis buys biotech firm Excellergy for 2 billion dollars
Novartis announced on Friday its acquisition of California-based Excellergy for up to 2 billion dollars. The deal aims to boost its food allergy treatments.
NOVARTIS AG-REG has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Excellergy, a biotechnology firm based in the United States, for a total consideration of up to $2 billion. This strategic acquisition is designed to enhance the presence of the pharmaceutical giant, headquartered in Switzerland, within the immunology and food allergy markets.

Under the terms of the agreement, the acquisition involves a series of upfront capital and milestone-related payments totaling the $2 billion figure. Novartis expects the transaction to close during the second half of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. This announcement follows another significant investment last week, where the company acquired a breast cancer drug candidate from Synnovation Therapeutics for approximately $3 billion.
The transaction will strengthen Novartis presence in the market of immunology in food allergy.
