Nippon Steel Gets $5.7 Billion for U.S. Steel Deal
Nippon Steel secured $5.7 billion from Japanese lenders to fund its U.S. Steel takeover. The group includes the nation's three megabanks and JBIC on Wednesday.
Nippon Steel Corporation has secured loans totaling 900 billion yen ($5.67 billion) to fund its acquisition of United States Steel. The company, which is based in Japan, announced the financing deal on Wednesday. This capital injection is intended to support the firm's strategic expansion within the United States.

The funding was provided by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and several major Japanese private banks. The group of private lenders includes Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Mizuho Bank—the nation's three megabanks—along with Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. This significant financial support underscores the banking sector's backing of the cross-border transaction.
