Dangote Refinery Hits 700,000 Barrels Per Day in Test
Nigeria's Dangote refinery reached 700,000 barrels per day in a test, exceeding its design capacity. The facility aims to double output within thirty months.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery reached crude processing levels of 700,000 barrels per day during a performance test on Thursday. This output exceeds the facility's 650,000 barrel nameplate capacity. The ramp-up marks a significant operational milestone for Africa's largest refinery, which is owned by billionaire Aliko Dangote.
### Capacity Expansion Targets Global Scale Devakumar Edwin, vice president at Dangote Industries, said Dangote Petroleum Refinery plans to expand capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day within 30 months. This target would make the facility one of the largest refining hubs globally. The plant began fuel production in 2024 and has scaled output of petrol, diesel, and jet fuel.
